BisCAN Welcomes You
At BISCAN we are promoting awareness of issues related to climate change that can be addressed through local initiatives. BISCAN covers the area of Bisley-with-Lypiatt Parish Council, and is supported by the Parish Council.
Who We Are
Bisley Eastcombe & Oakridge Climate Action Network (BisCAN) is a community of groups and individuals in the Parish of Bisley-with-Lypiatt, which aims to mitigate the impact of climate change by reducing our local carbon footprint, and to aid nature recovery in our Parish. We share information, collect data, support each other in our efforts, and together develop projects to further these goals. We are part of the Transition Stroud CAN Forum and collaborate with other CANs. We hope to encourage the residents of our communities to lead lives that are healthy and happy while putting nature first. We are open to all residents of the Parish, and will be transparent and democratic in all we do.
What We Do
BisCAN
Energy
Energy associated with home heating is estimated to contribute 28% of local emissions. Therefore, it is a key area to tackle to help reduce emissions. The Energy pages provide ideas on reducing energy consumption in the home and advocates for adopting cleaner transport including cycling and public transport.

Biodiversity
Biodiversity, nature recovery and food are intrinsically linked to addressing the climate emergency at a local level. We offer ideas and support to help nature recover which supports improved biodiversity. We also offer ideas about how grow food and choose food products that are less carbon intensive.

FOOD
We also offer ideas about how to grow food and choose food products that are less carbon intensive, and offer healthy alternatives. We also support the Bisley composting scheme which aims to help remove peat based compost from the local environment.
